Artisan Scope provides a powerful tool to help achieve perfect results: the alarm feature. When I first started using Artisan Scope roasting software, there were already so many things going on, so this feature was ignored initially. This capability allows roasters to set reminders for critical changes, such as reminding you to raise the Set Value (SV) after charge, or to have it monitor your upper ET values to avoid over heating the roaster, ruining your batch of beans.
To set up Alarms, simply follow this menu path: Config -> Alarms
You will notice right away that this can be a very simple tool, or can be more advanced if you so choose. I have set up the following alarms.
- Alarm 1: If the ET value gets above 240C, it will pop up the following message "About to Shut Roaster Down"
- Alarm 2: If the ET value gets above 230C, it will pop up the following message "ET Getting too High"
- Alarm 3: After the Turning Point, a reminder to increase the Set Value (SV) "Increase SV"
The above is only an example. You can custom tailor to your specific needs. You can select to have it be a popup notification, or audible alarm, etc.
You are also able to "Save" the alarm set to share with a friend, or to add to a new version of Artisan, second laptop, etc.
Feel free to play around with it and post on our Facebook group if there is an alarm which you find might be beneficial to everyone.
